IT'S WRITING TIME! GENERATIVE & SOLIDARITY GROUP FOR ALL GENRES (Virtual, 8 Weeks)
IT’S WRITING TIME! GENERATIVE AND SOLIDARITY GROUP FOR ALL GENRES (Virtual)
WITH CAROLYN ZAIKOWSKI
8 SUNDAYS, Sept. 27th-Nov. 15th
6-8PM ET
ONLINE VIA ZOOM
DESCRIPTION:
This group is for both beginner and established writers who are craving a low-stakes, supportive community space to just...be writers together!
Each week, we'll spend time writing in class together, guided by versatile and optional prompts and attitudes toward the process to fit students' different needs and genre interests--whether poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction and essay, or all of the above. We’ll do some informal sharing and offer positive, encouraging feedback in small and large groups in the spirit of community, empowerment, and finding your own voice.
You can come to class with writing or projects you’re already working on, or you can come with a blank slate; no matter. If you're a new or experienced writer looking for guided and focused writing time, gentle accountability and solidarity from an instructor and fellow like-minded travelers, support and troubleshooting around writing/life balance, and the opportunity to create new work, come join us!
Note: This is not a formal work shopping or intensive craft class. While we will do some loose craft study to guide our writing, any at-home readings or at-home writing ideas are optional.

-5 to 14 days before the first class: Half refund minus $25 processing fee

2) SAFE SPACE POLICY:
I reserve the right to use my expertise and discretion to remove students from class, without refund, who display behaviors and speech which are racist, sexist, transphobic, homophobic, ableist, or otherwise disrespectful and non-compliant with class policies (to be discussed on the first day of class) regarding safe spaces and discrimination, and/or who repeatedly disregard common sense norms of respectful, non-combative, self-aware group behavior
3) AGREEMENT: By registering for this class, you are acknowledging that you fully understand and consent to these policies.
NOTE ABOUT SLIDING SCALE
For the sake of community solidarity and recognition of oppressive social and economic systems that prohibit many folks from accessing writing and community, I make every effort to create a reasonable and honor-based sliding scale system. Simultaneously, I must honor my own need to pay for bills, medical care, and other costs of living in a world where I've been taught that being a teacher, writer, and woman means I shouldn't charge for my labor and expertise. Financial aid/scholarship funds are limited and unpredictable, so within this collective balancing act, please keep in mind that financial aid is designed for folks who otherwise wouldn't be able to attend. Thank you! -Carolyn
